This statement applies to all services we make available, including through our website at www.socialengineforum.com and any other Social Engine Forum branded or co-branded websites (including sub-domains, international and/or localized versions, and mobile versions).
This statement makes up the entire agreement between the parties regarding Social Engine Forum, and supersedes any prior agreements. If any portion of this statement is found to be unenforceable, the remaining portion will remain in full force and effect. You will not transfer any of your rights or obligations under this statement to anyone else without our consent. You will comply with all applicable laws when using or accessing Social Engine Forum. Continues usage also taken as that you comply with the agreement below.
Social Engine Forum has the discretion to update this statement at any time. When we do, we will revise the updated date at the top of this page. We encourage Users to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about the new guidelines and rules. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this statement periodically and become aware of modifications.
By "Social Engine Forum", "SEF", "Forum" or "Community", we means this website (or whatever product or service we made available to you under our brand names) where you signed up (used, browsed or subscribed) by accepting this statement.
By "You", "User" or "Users", we means yourself, currently logged in to this website as a user. Which will not be limited to registered users, where terms applies for guests will remain in full force and effect as they still use the site under this statement.
By "Terms", "Terms of Service", "Statement" or "TOS" we means this document and all the linked documents, which acting as the agreement between the user and Social Engine Forum. Such agreement is to follow at all times while using the site.
By "Owner", "The Owner", "Owners", or "Site Owner", we means the administration of the Social Engine Forum, usually the members of Administrators member group. However, as Social Engine Forum is a subsidiary of Coldware Networks; Social Engine Forum also operates under their administration.
Registration: Information required upon registration for each participant on Social Engine Forum must be accurate and complete. You must update such information as needed in order to ensure that the information remains to be accurate and complete.
Your Username/Avatar: You agree that you will not incorporate any word or graphic in your username, Message ID, custom user title or Avatar that is defamatory, obscene or profane, or which violates any trademark or service mark of any third party, including, without limitation, that of Social Engine Forum. You agree that you will upload only photos that are deemed appropriate for public viewing. The decision of the administration will be final. Photos may also limited in size, resolution and disk space per user group.
One Account: You agree you will register only ONE account. If you have trouble with your log-in or password, contact the Accounts Management rather than registering again. Posts may be merged at the discretion of the administration of Social Engine Forum of any member with two or more user accounts. The owner also assumes that all activities made using your Member ID and password are authorized by you.
Your User Signature: Referral links in signature lines are for supporting members of SEF. They are not for advertising, unless arrangements have been made through the Site owner. Our staff can and will remove signature lines found to be in violation of this policy.
Keep it uncensored: You agree not to post messages or links that are obscene, profane, sexually explicit or descriptively graphic.
Keep it intact: Active public areas apart from forum sections (such as Shoutbox, footer instant chat, status updates and profile comments) are not a place to ask help. You must only post your help requests at proper help forum section, with well detailed information. Remember to read forum section's description to understand them and post your topic at proper section. You must use search functionality before post, to avoid from duplicate posting, which also a violation against terms.
Inappropriate Word Usage: You agree you will not attempt to bypass the website's censor by misspelling inappropriate words.
Impersonation: Assuming the character of another member by copying his/her username and manner of writing is not allowed.
Informational links: You agree not to start a thread for the purpose of dropping a link to a competing website or article. Using status or any publicly available means on SEF to direct people to competing sites is strictly forbidden. Also, a seperate statement available stating the terms of External Links in Social Engine Forum and they will be also applied. You are highly advised to read them too.
Topics: As each forum is specifically tailored to address certain topics, you are responsible for initiating new threads in the correct forum. You should stay on-topic at all times. The appropriate content for each forum is described in detail on the Forum Homepage. You agree not to post the same message in multiple forums without permission from the Administrator.
Threats: You agree that you will not use any of Social Engine Forum's website features to post any material which (a) is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law, (b) publicity/privacy rights (please also read Legal Issues: Copyright material), and (c) contains any viruses, Trojan horses, worms, time bombs, cancelbots or other computer programming routines that are intended to damage, detrimentally interfere with, surreptitiously intercept or expropriate any system, data or personal information.
Discussion Flow: You agree not to disrupt the normal flow of dialogue or "flood," cause a screen to "scroll" faster than other users of the Service are able to type, or otherwise act in a manner that negatively affects other users' ability to engage in real time exchanges. You will not delete your own posts in such a manner that disrupts the flow of dialogue.
Flaming: Lashing out at other participants is strictly forbidden. Proper etiquette is required for participation in Social Engine Forum. You agree that you will not make derogatory comments about any person based on religion, race, gender, etc. A tone of "kindness" is appreciated for all discussions.
Spamming: Sending unsolicited electronic junk mail or junk newsgroup postings, in any form, is strictly forbidden. Using status or any publicly available means on SEF to direct people to competing sites is strictly forbidden.
Trolling: Posting insulting or deliberately divisive threads/replies for the purpose of (1) harvesting retaliatory insults and flames, or (2) throwing off the balance of the forum, is also disallowed.
- All posts must be written in English. Posts in other languages than English are considered low quality.
- Posting in old threads (gravedigging) without a reason is not allowed and considered as low quality/spamming.
- Mass posting of short posts such as "thanks", "great", "nice job" and so on is considered as spamming/low quality.
- Posting unrelated posts in threads is not allowed and considered as off-topic posting/low quality.
- Posting threads containing surveys links is not allowed. Asking for re-uploads is allowed though.
- Posting of adult content is not allowed in any forum (that includes adult images, videos etc).
- All posts must have used the BBCodes where such is necessary. You shouldn't make page longer by pasting long error logs or such, instead use attachments option with a ZIP file containing the data.
- Cross posting is not allowed. Cross posting means posting the same thread in multiple forums.
- Double posting is not allowed. You can post in your thread again, only if 24 hours have passed.
- Posting of other people's personal information is not allowed.
- Impersonating of other people, or forum staff is not allowed.
- Do not attempt to bypass the word filter.
- Do not attempt to bypass the minimum characters by adding extra spaces, dots, smilies or anything else.
- Re-selling licenses or third party plugins/modules/templates or any other material is strictly prohibited.
- Leeching without credits is not allowed. That means posting of other people's tutorials or tools without credits is not allowed.
- Attempting to infect users is highly forbidden and will lead to permanent ban of your account. No exceptions, so double-check before you post someone else's tool.
- Spamming your referral links, advertising links or any kind of spam through private messages is not allowed.
- Insulting, flaming or harassing members through private messages is not allowed.
- Advertising through private messages is not allowed. If your site meets our rules, you can post it in our forum.
- By making a thread and sharing the download link through private message, you must NOT send users a survey links as it is not allowed. Asking for re-uploads is allowed.
- You are allowed to ask for reputation, but you are not allowed to spam for reputation. By spam for reputation I mean you are not allowed to ask for reputation in each of your posts. You can ask for reputation in threads you've made yourself, but not leeched. And if you are going to ask for reputation, please do not use big letters, use it normal font.
- Trading reputation is not allowed. Asking other to give you a reputation and you give them is highly forbidden. Anyone caught doing this will be banned and all his reputations will be removed.
- You can give multiple reputations to members, as long as they really earn it. Giving multiple reputations to members without reason will lead to removal of them and a warning will be given to the user.
- Making new accounts to give reputations to yourself is not allowed and will lead to ban of all your accounts and IP address.
- Your signature may not containt any adult images/links.
- You may only have one image in your signature.
- Your signature's dimensions must not be bigger than 650x200 pixels and bigger than 500KB.
- The maximum length for signatures is 300 characters. Be reasonable in your signature and don't use big fonts.
- Do not use your signature for advertising other sites if they do not meet our forum rules.
- You are not allowed to spam, flame or insult other users in your signature.
- Do not use someone else's signature, if you do not have permission.
- You are allowed to use referral links in your signature.
- You are not allowed to sell your signature space.
Payments & Marketplace
Liability: The owners and moderators accept no liability for sales, purchases and trades (except Premium Memberships) made on Social Engine Forum.
Payments: All paid items payments must be received within 7 days, unless private arrangements have been agreed upon by both parties. Also, a seperate statement available stating the terms of Premium Subscriptions and Payments and they will be also applied. You are highly advised to read them too.
Marketplace: You are allowed to post your own products (means a product created by you and you have full rights to distribute here) at Marketplace to sell. But you are not allowed to post products, which created by other third-party author(s) and where you have no rights to redistribute it.
Selling copyrighted materials: Re-selling of products or licenses are strictly prohibited.
Solicitations: You agree not to invite, solicit or coerce others to join other websites through posts, email, PM, Avatar, Status or Tag lines, use of Social Engine Forum membership list or any other resource within the Social Engine Forum website. Advertising: You agree not to use the Forum to either advertise or promote commercial endeavors, which includes direct posts, Avatar, Status or Tag lines, as well as, active links to other sites on the Internet, without permission from the Administrator. You may, however, include URLs or active links to commercial sites, reasonable in number, only for the sole purpose of expanding on comments or providing additional information as part of regular forum interactions.
Advertising: You agree not to use the Forum to either advertise or promote commercial endeavors, which includes direct posts, as well as, active links to other sites on the Internet, without permission from the Administrator. You may, however, include URLs or active links to commercial sites, reasonable in number, only for the sole purpose of expanding on comments or providing additional information as part of regular forum interactions.
Advertising on Social Engine Forum: Currently Social Engine Forum does not accept any kind of advertisement campaign to run at the community (free, paid or affiliative).
Copyright material: You are allowed to post copyrighted materials only on your risk. Please note, that we do not own any responsibility over such copyrighted material. Once you have been posted a such content, you may not able to delete/remove it from the Forum. Therefor, you must think twice, before go to a such step.
Downloading copyrighted material: By downloading a copyrighted material (a complete product or any part of it) from this Forum, you are only allowed to use it in non-commercial/local environment for testing purpose. If you want to use it in commercial/public environment, you must purchase a valid genuine license from original authors.
Property of Social Engine Forum: You agree that content created by this website through the use of posts/threads and FAQ and/or polls remains the property of this website and may be published by Social Engine Forum in other media forms. The owner is not responsible for any and all Messages expressed in the Forum. The owner does not attempt to control or validate any comments or recommendations provided by the participants and is not responsible for any inaccuracies in the Messages. Therefore, you bear the risk associated with, the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of the Messages.
No Warranty: The owner disclaims any and all responsibility or liability for the accuracy, content, completeness, legality, reliability, or operability or availability of information or material in the Forum. The owner disclaims any responsibility for the deletion, failure to store, mis delivery, or untimely delivery of Messages. The owner disclaims any responsibility for any harm resulting from downloading or accessing any information or material through Social Engine Forum. The Social Engine Forum web site and services are provided "as is," and The owner and its co-brand partners expressly disclaim all warranties or conditions of any kind (whether expressed, implied or statutory), including without limitation the implied warranties of title, non-infringement, and fitness for a particular purpose. Without limiting the foregoing, the owner does not promise or warrant to you that any aspect of the web site and system will work properly or will be available continuously.
No Liability: In no event shall The owner be liable to any party for any loss or damage, including but not limited to lost revenues or profits or special, indirect, incidental or consequential damages (howsoever arising, including negligence) arising out of or in connection with the Social Engine Forum website, its services or this Agreement.
Access Limits: Without the prior written consent of the owner, you may not (a) use any automated means to access the site or collect any information from the Social Engine Forum website (including without limitation robots, spiders or scripts), or (b) frame the site, place pop-up windows over its pages, or otherwise affect the display of its pages.
Services, Fees and Charges: The owner reserves the right to modify the services offered by Social Engine Forum from time to time, with or without notice, including the right to terminate such services. The owner reserves the right to charge any fees for use or participation in the Forum. At present, however, the owner does not charge any fees for participation in the forum except for Premium Memberships, which is optional.
Limitation of Use: The owner reserves the right to limit the use of Forum to any individual or group at any time.
Termination: The owner reserves the right to terminate your use of the Forums at anytime, with or without notice. Following termination, at its sole option, The owner may remove some or all of your Messages from the Social Engine Forum website or leave it available for public review, without need of notice or approval from you.
What If I'm Banned?
After someone has been banned for breach of the Guidelines or Terms of Service posted on Social Engine Forum, correspondence from Moderators or Administrators of the site usually stops. If your access has been denied, this document will serve to answer any questions you may have.
Why was my access denied? No one has ever been banned from Social Engine Forum for reasons other than non-compliance with the posted Guidelines or Terms of Service. At registration, new members are asked to accept the Terms of Service and follow the Guidelines while interacting in this online community. It is a requirement of your membership that you invest in fostering the spirit of goodwill and community. Link to the Guidelines and Terms of Service can be found at "More..." tab in header on every page of Social Engine Forum.
Am I banned permanently? Yes. Unless you have been told by an Admin or Moderator that the your account was temporarily suspended as a warning, your access to Social Engine Forum and any affiliated sites or mailing lists is permanent. When Admins or Moderators ban a user's account, this action means that you are no longer welcome on Social Engine Forum at any time.
If feel this is unfair. Do I have any recourse? A decision to ban someone is not made lightly. and is never retracted. If you feel the need to vent or explain your position, you are welcome to contact us. Site Admins usually do not engage in any correspondence with banned individuals, so please do not take it personally if your email goes unanswered.
Why was I banned without warning? There is no posted or implied rule in our TOS stating that you will be officially warned before your access is denied. Moderators are encouraged to be fair in reminding people of the TOS and Guidelines. Unless a new member is an obvious troublemaker from the start, or a member is a constant nuisance or interacts on the site in a way that is generally negative or really disturbing, members usually receive a warning from Admins or Moderators via private message, email, or publicly in the forums before access is denied. However, the Terms of Service explain your account can be suspended immediately, and there is no implied agreement that a warning is required.
What about my constitutional rights to free speech? While Social Engine Forum is free community resource, it is a privately-owned web site on a privately owned server with clearly posted rules for conduct that users are expected to honor as a condition of service. Access is not a legal right. It is a conditional gift.
Can I create a new account? Admins routinely delete new accounts created by banned individuals. If you continue to create multiple accounts after your welcome has been revoked, such abuse of our resources will be considered outright harassment. We will permanently ban your IP address so that you are unable to access even the front page of Social Engine Forum, and we file abuse complaints with your Internet Service Provider. In a few instances, we have pressed criminal charges for harassment and taken legal action to cease and desist.
